A Good Day for Nuptials...

I meant to post this yesterday, but after an exhausting nine hours of work (to which I returned to after a year hiatus yesterday) I was left utterly destroyed. I suppose it didn't help that I spent all weekend drinking and partying with Gordon. First it was a night out in downtown SD with Gus and three strange girls. Then it was up to LA for Liz's big day. Now I don't consider myself the most sentimental of people but neither do I think my heart is made of stone. And while I didn't cry (like Jocelyn - who was the Maid of Honor) I did feel extremely happy for my friend Liz. Out of everyone I knew in college, I don't think anyone equated marriage with happiness and success more than her. I've discovered that this outlook isn't uncommon among koreans, but nevertheless I'm glad she finally she got what she wished for.

It was a huge ceremony. The groom, it turns out in addition to being a cop, is also the son of a pastor. By tradition, he invited the entire congregation. It was one of the longer ceremonies I've seen, but I think the fact that many things were repeated twice, once in english and then in korean, really slowed things down. But it was beautiful and I'm sure Liz will remember that day for the rest of her life. So congrats to my buddy Liz who is probably at this very moment on some beautiful beach on Bora Bora with her new hubby.

After the ceremony was the afterparty (of course). Two words: OPEN BAR. It was like a UCSD reunion. Vu spun. Even Ted dropped by. We had such a blast that we never even made it to the hotel Vu got in Hollywood. Instead we crashed at the bridal party hotel with Jasime and Jenny. The only down notes to the whole affair were that most girls were taken and Steamin who was critically ill earlier this month was not in attendance. But not to fret, we'll get a second chance at it at Joce's wedding next year.

Pictures will be up later this week so stay tuned for those.

  • Awesome recap of the weekend. Thanks for the hospitality. One critique though, pasture and Pastor aren't the same.
